Manchester City transfer news: Patrick Roberts to join Girona on season-long loan despite rumoured Celtic interest

Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts is close to joining LaLiga club Girona on a season-long loan, according to reports in Spain.

Roberts, 21, has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons on loan at Scottish champions Celtic and he scored 17 goals in his first 16 appearances for the Hoops.

However, last season he made only seven league starts and scored just one goal for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The England youth international was bought by City from Fulham in 2015 in a £12million deal but has made just three appearances for the club.

He was reportedly linked with moves to Ligue 1 sides Bordeaux, Rennes and St Etienne.

But according to Catalan Radio station RAC1 Roberts has found a new club in Girona – who are part owned by City Football Group – and he will complete his loan move this week.
