Manchester City vs Southampton: Fans react as ‘disrespectful’ City ‘take the mick’ with insane play in Saints’ box

Manchester City were enjoying themselves on Sunday afternoon when Southampton visited the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side were 3-0 up before the 20 minute mark, adding a fourth just before the break after Danny Ings had pulled a goal back for Saints.

Sergio Aguero scored his 150th Premier League goal during the match

Being in such a commanding position so early on gave City the freedom to enjoy themselves somewhat, and they certainly made the most of this opportunity.

One attack in particular had football fans going crazy on social media.

A move forward seemed certain to end in another goal when Raheem Sterling ran into the area, but rather than play in Leroy Sane, Sterling kept the ball and slowed the attack down.

More and more players entered the box, and for just under 20 seconds Man City played a game of keep-ball INSIDE Southampton’s penalty area.

At one stage, there were eight defenders hoping to win the ball off five of City’s players – and they didn’t manage to do it!

While some viewers were entertained by City’s dominance of the ball, others were critical of Guardiola’s side for being disrespectful towards their opponents.

Social media was abuzz with discussion after the incredible period of play came to an end, and we round up some of the best reaction below…
