It was a far from ideal start to the Premier League season for West Ham after losing 4-0 at Liverpool on Sunday but just a day later their Under-23 side made a much better start.
The Hammers came from behind to beat Tottenham Under-23s 3-1 thanks to new boy Xande Silva’s hat-trick at Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium.
Silva, 21, who signed from Portuguese club Vitoria de Guimaraes for £1.5million this summer was in stunning form under the eyes of Manuel Pellegrini’s assistant Ruben Cousillas and new director of football Mario Husillos.

Silva’s display also turned the heads of some Irons fans – who took to Twitter to show their appreciation for the new player.
One even suggested the Portuguese should be in contention to start West Ham’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Saturday.
