A teenager is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from the upper floor of a John Lewis store.
Police and paramedics were called to the department store in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, at 7.20pm last night.
The girl, 19, fell from the upper level to the ground floor and is currently being treated for serious injuries.
She is understood to have fallen from the internal balcony inside the Wilmslow Road store.
Greater Manchester Police are now investigating how it happened.
A GMP spokesman said: ‘At around 7.20pm we were called to a report a female who had fallen from the upper level of John Lewis onto the ground floor.
‘The police and ambulance service attended. The lady is there now being treated. Her injuries are desperately serious. We are now investigating the reasons behind the fall.’
A John Lewis spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the emergency services were called to our Cheadle shop this evening following a serious incident.
